Foundations 003: Desperate Farmers Make Stand Against Axiom Threat While Seedlings Can't Stop Scoffing Tomatoes!

It’s safe to say that farming landed on Avesta as more a damp whimper than a loud bang. It was chaos for a while, due to only anarchists seemingly able to get the hang of this ancient Earth skillset. And then Axiom appeared and started to make the need for freshly grown tomatoes, corn and pumpkins urgent and a big necessity.

However, no sooner had Seed Industries announced a new Foundations challenge, than their hidden operative inside the logistics centre started to cause havoc. Societies have been unable to get fresh crops sold to Seed Industries and out to the Obscura Island, where there are now confirmed reports of imminent famine.

However, some societies have faced this adversity and prevailed! At the beginning of the crisis, Kamex, leader of Tolaria, immediately gave a stirring call to action:

‘This directive, Tolaria turns its focus to the fields. Our farming plots will serve as the heart of our effort, growing corn, pumpkins, and tomatoes to sustain...Though others may see only struggle, we see purpose. Each planted seed and tended crop is a quiet act of defiance, proof that progress takes root even in adversity.

And in a truly impressive act of collective solidarity, they have seemingly got out of the gates first and are now leading - ever so slightly - in the challenge.

Will we see more societies enter the fray and try their hand at farming? The need is acute, but challenges are called that for a reason. Venatoria are also doing well, and some others too, so maybe some society can get their tomatoes off their island?

Because what’s more, nobody seems to have been able to stop their Seedlings from scoffing tomatoes before getting them to the logistics centre! That’s right readers - Axiom’s dirty work is being done, apparently, by the farming Seedlings themselves! Hunger is a need that will override many a moral principle.
